Foodie, SLC : Photographer Celebrates the Culture of Food

Salt Lake photographer, Lance Duffin, is a self-admitted foodie. His exhibition titled "Foodie SLC," is his loving celebration of the culture of food. "Foodie SLC" will hang from August 18 through September 8. The Opening Reception will be held on Friday, August 18 from 6 to 9 PM, during the Salt Lake Gallery Association¹s monthly Gallery Stroll.

Duffin says, "In every culture, in every city, food plays a vital and significant role. Food is much more than a means of survival, health and well-being. Food is an integral part of countless religious practices, social and community gatherings and celebrations. It provides a connection between families and generations and a connection between humans and their environment."

Duffin has enjoyed the support of many of Salt Lake¹s food establishments on this project, as well as countless street vendors, café patrons, farmer's markets, delis, street fairs, friends and family members. As a photographer, he is naturally interested in the visual aspect of food. This exhibit is truly a feast for the eyes. Lance Duffin dedicates this show to his Grandmother, ³who hand-dipped chocolates her entire life and everyday embodied the notion that great food, prepared with love, is one of the greatest gifts we can give each other."

Gallery patrons are asked to bring canned and packaged food goods to benefit the Utah Food Bank during the duration of this exhibit!

In Tandem: Artists Darryl Erdmann and John Emmett Work In Tandem

Art Access II Gallery is pleased to present the abstract paintings of Salt Lake artists Darryl Erdmann and John Emmett, August 18 through September 8. The Opening Reception for In Tandem is Friday, August 18, from 6 to 9 PM, during the Salt Lake Gallery Association¹s monthly Gallery Stroll.

In Tandem developed as the result of the pairing of Erdmann and Emmett in last year¹s Art Access PARTNER¹S Program. The PARTNER¹S PROGRAM was developed twelve years ago to provide opportunities for talented adult artists with disabilities who have been unable to access the arts community in meaningful ways. In this individualistic program, participants are paired with professional artists who become their mentors.

Darryl Erdmann, the former owner and director of Chroma Gallery, was the program mentor for John Emmett. The two artists share a love of abstract art.
