Fabulous Frescoes: Learn to Paint Like the Masters with Tessa Lindsey

Bring back the lost painting technique of the Renaissance masters, the Romans, and the Mayans! True fresco is a painting executed on fresh lime frescoportrait.lindsey 2inchplaster in such a way that natural earth pigments - suspended only in water - are fixed by the chemistry of the lime. Students will learn the science, history, and alchemy behind this renowned technique as they participate in mixing plaster, grinding pigments, surface preparation, and the transfer of the drawing leading up to the "Golden Hour" of painting. Each student will complete a true fresco on a clay tile that will endure for centuries.

Tessa Lindsey was born in Provo, Utah. She studied fine art at the University of Utah, where she discovered her interest in the decorative arts, studying at The American Academy of Decorative Finishes, and the Finishing School, NY. She went on to specialize in historic techniques and materials, attending the Traditional Building Skills Institute at Snow College, The Sitka Center for Art and Ecology in Oregon, Kremer Pigments, NY, and Accademia Caerite in Italy, where she gained specific knowledge of traditional fresco painting technique, going on to become a recognized expert on the subject. Her fine art paintings, drawings, frescoes, and collage works have shown at UMOCA, Springville Museum of Art, Jancar Contemporary, Los Angeles, and several other galleries and charity events. She was part of the 337 Project and Present Tense show at the Salt Lake Art Center, and named as one of eleven up and coming young artists in Salt Lake Magazine, and one of 25 artists to watch in City Weekly.
